travel comfortable with Iranian Railways
Iranian trains offer safe and comfortable connections to almost every major destination in the country. Most long distance trains are operated by private companies which offer different standard from good to highest. Regional trains are provided with comfortable and fast trainsets.

Iran is a huge country with extended arid and desert plains. Settlements are concentrated in areas where abundant water is available, with distances of hundreds of kilometers between the major cities. According to this pattern railways offer mainly long distance connections, with usually at least one overnight train per line and a few daytime connections on some lines. Some relations are not served every day but two or three times a week. All connections are structured to be direct. This means you will not have to change at any station during your travel (and you hardly will find any timetable permitting changes). Local or regional service has been introduced in the last decades but it is available only in few areas. Never expect to take a train to cover a distance of just 50-80 kms except in urban regions. On long distances railway is often the fastest available land transport, more comfortable than road connections and of course safer and more environmental friendly.

With up to 500 km of new lines per year Iran's railway has one of the quickest growing networks in the world. Many new destinations have been added since the last years and new services have been introduced on existing lines. New lines are under construction to Bandar Anzali on the Caspian Sea, to Ardebil, to Chabahar on the Indian Ocean, to Khorramabad, to Sanandaj as well as connections to the rail networks of Azerbaijan at Astana and of Iraq at Basra as well as to Herat in Afghanistan.

The Noor wagons offer the highest standard for long travels in larger, Chinese profile compartments. Climate control and silenced interiors will guarantee for a smooth travel and a quiet sleep. Each compartment can accommodate up to 4 travelers. Tea, snacks and juice are prepared for each traveler on tables between the seats. During the night, tables are closed and 2 bunk beds on each side of the compartment are available. The compartments are mixed gender and you will share them with other fellow travelers. It is possible to book in a ladies only compartment or to book the entire compartment regardless of the minimum number of travelers.

Each traveler will get a fresh sheet, a pillow and a blanket but must provide himself for preparing the bed. Compartments may be locked from inside and there is enough space to store each passenger’s luggage. Light can be turned off by night. Each bed has a small extra light for reading. 230V Power sockets are available. WIFI is available on some routes.

A toilet on each end of the wagon as well washing rooms are available, but no shower.

Still water is provided and additional snacks, tea, coffee or juices are available from the train staff around the clock. Meals can be ordered into the compartment or consumed in the restaurant car.

These cars offer the highest sleeping and travel comfort for long distance trips.

The Ghazal wagons are provided by diffrent railway companies and offer a high standard for long travels in larger, Chinese profile compartments. This train has 8 compartments for 4 people and its final capacity is 32 people. One compartment is dedicated to the hospitality service and there are two toilets in each wagon. The body of the compartments is double glazed and the window glass is double glazed, so the compartments are heat and sound insulation. The audio and video systems of these trains are capable of receiving television networks. The 220V power outlet in each coupe allows passengers to use their personal appliances. Tickets for these trains are sold as tickets with and without dinner, which passengers will have to pay extra if they request dinner. There is also a restaurant on this train that is ready to receive passengers. Raja Green trains are transporting passengers on the routes from Tehran to Tabriz and Tehran to Mashhad.

Soroush wagons have four-seater compartments that are very suitable for family and friendly trips. It is also possible for you to rent Soroush train compartments on a regular basis. Each compartment has two equipped screens that you can use to select your favorite song or movie using the archive in them. Free reception of Soroush train includes tea, tea and mineral water and it is possible to choose food from the menu when buying a ticket for an additional fee for Soroush train.

The Pardis train travels at a speed of 160 kilometers per hour and has seats similar to airplane seats. The carriages of this train are completely insulated against the entry of dust and the cooling and heating system on the roof of the carriage also works automatically. The audio and video system inside the carriages has four output channels and passengers use headphones. They can watch their favorite programs of their choice.

Parsi trains are available in two types, 4-board and 6-board, and offer different facilities to passengers. A four-bed breakfast coupe is served during the trip by Parsi Wagon, and it is possible to reserve food when purchasing a ticket. Tea, mineral water, newspapers and bedding are provided free of charge. The four-bed coupe is equipped with Wi-Fi and a monitor. Mahdis six-bed trains were rebuilt in 1997 and 1998 by one of the best Iranian companies, each train has 10 wagons and 11 coupes. Also, the reconstruction of these trains has been done in a way that can be used for up to 15 years in the country's rail transport. These trains are equipped with air conditioning system and each train has a restaurant equipped with a video system for playing movies and music. Mahdis entertainment system : In this system, it is possible for the passenger to use the intended movies and songs on his mobile phone, tablet and laptop via Wi-Fi.

The Tous train has 9 compartments of 4 people with a final capacity of 36 people. The body of the compartments and the windows are double-walled, and thus the compartments are heat and sound insulation. There is an alley for hospitality and there are two toilets in each wagon. Each coupe has an audio and video system capable of receiving TV networks and a 230-volt power outlet. The train delivers light canned food to passengers for dinner at no extra cost. Also, Toos train restaurant is ready to receive passengers with drinks and snacks. There are Toos trains for Tehran-Tabriz, Tehran-Mashhad and Tehran-Ankara rail routes.

This train has 11 4-seater compartments in each wagon and its total capacity is 44 people. One of these compartments is for hospitality and there are 2 toilets in each wagon. The CCTV audio and video system is one of the facilities available in the Persian Gulf train, and its body and glass are of two layers. Persian Gulf train of Raja Company in Malayer routes; Arak and Mashhad are moving passengers.
